Well this is going to go sideways now.
Spend some time in Vancouver. Expropriations may have happened but the wealthy Mainland Chinese have been dumping their money into Vancouver for eons; they are NOT farmers nor are they the workers making a pittance in factories. They are the ones reaping in money off their backs.
Not to point fingers but I have seen illegal fishing, large luxury type boats pulling traps (personally and in reports from those on the water) countless times and DFO is to short staffed to patrol it. Have reported numerous times and confronted rental boats from Sewell's in mid Howe Sound countless times around a friend of mines cabin.....with the same stupid response. 90% of the time it is those of a certain ethnicity.....minus two well known groups; a boat out of Horseshoe (white guys) or over that way which has been confronted numerous times and the natives running out of the river.
Just look back at threads in past years terrin......you've been here quite a while.
One only has to look at the DFO charged list on their site.....and something sticks out; not a lot of any ethnicity name their kid Xu and the last name is Huang-Dong. These are largely immigrants who come in and don't give a sh*t. I am not being racist at all as there is a bad seed in Campbell River or Comox who was crabbing in Coal Harbour and has a well known reputation up and down the coat....but the list speaks to it all. Come to Vancouver and watch the illegal crabbing at Jericho Pier and it speaks volumes. Look at our member @AndrewH who busted guys and reported it in White Rock area.

Time for a little reminder here that while @Pippen has pointed out that facts are facts regarding who has been charged and/or convicted more often than not comes from a certain ethnic background, he also stated the truth that there are poachers from other ethnic backgrounds as well. So, before this goes down a path that we simply cannot endorse, let's acknowledge that not all people of any particular ethnic background are automatically poachers. Be vigilant and report all infractions but be careful how you describe what you would do, or suggest others do, if they encounter someone doing something suspicious or illegal. IF something were to go sideways in that moment and you are on the public record as saying you would do something outside the law in retaliation to their suspicious or illegal activity, you may just find yourself in a bind with the authorities. I will remind everyone again that we have had inquiries in the past from legal authorities because of statements made on this forum so be careful of what you put into words.
Let us all remember we are in Canada, where the criminals are always right, have cheaper/free legal representation, better free education, no line ups for medication, and each and every incarcerated person has a doctor. You can own a big expensive boat and steel traps because there is NO ramifications if your a caught criminal. Sunny ways Canada.

According to DFO most are vietnamese and have gang affiliations.
They keep undersize and are marked Oregon or Washington state in stores.
