there's top three for flashers, places to stay, fishing holes and a lot more but no one has talked about rods & reel.

1. 8 Foot Black Peetz Rod & Reel (late 1980s) for halibut
2. Ugly Stik 7' Medium Light BWC220070 + Tekota 700LC or 800LC for jigging
3. Most 10'6" Mooching Rods + Shimano GT4000 Reel

1# For hali a fenwick matrix composite fiberglass/graphite mooching rod with a 9 inch diameter alvey single action reel.

2# for lingcod, a simple jiging rod (light wait) with a single action reel.

3# for salmon any light-wait rod with a single action reel.

Trevala TVC66M spinner with Penn Battle 6000 for lings
Rapala RSC580SJH1 with a Shimano TLD15 for Hali
10'6"Technium with older model Shimano 4000 GT for trolling.

These are all decent, moderately priced combos. My others are cheaper but catch fish too.

Shimano 6ft Tuna Takers and Penn Fathom 40- hali, Penn 115, tuna
Penn Carnage 5'8', Penn Squall 20- bottom jigging anything
Shimano TDR 8'6", Penn Squall 20- Trolling/Jigging Salmon

Sorry no knuckle busters, same set-ups worldwide. Gave my trevela's away, too much flex in handle not at tip, tried the carnage=amazing.

Anyone have experience with Fenwick rods? I just purchased some Fenwick Eagle mooching rods and am wondering if anyone on here has put them to the test.

At the price I got them for, I cant complain. But the little guy upstairs is constantly making me worry. :)

G-Loomis SAR 1363 BC with MR-2
Titan Trophy with Trophy XL TYEE
Fenwick HMX with Shimano 4000 GT
10'6"Technium with Shimano 4000 GT

I have 2 Sage 3106's with an islander MR3 and an abel moocher and I haven't fished with a better setup in my opinion. Both reels are great.

3106 sage and islander mr2 or LX4.4 with double handles. I think that is as good as it gets..

I got my first full season in with a Sage 3106 and reel similar to an mr2--- fantastic rod, no doubt, but I kept thinking that for C&R , I was a little under-gunned, especially on mid-20 and up fish.

Is there a rod out there that sits between a 3106 and a 4112 ? A rod that has the sweet limber action of a 3106 but the backbone of a 4112?

I'd grab it in a heartbeat.

What reel is similar to MR2 SH?

Hey Sharphooks there is or was a sage 4100 (10' 4 power) or the 4110 (11' 4 power). The 4110 is a little more limber and will take any large chinook in the ocean. You can put a lot of pressure on the 3106 without failure.
