' A large seal that led police on a wild chase in suburban Launceston on Boxing Day morning was eventually ‘secured’ by Tasmanian authorities, but not before leaving its mark on a car, climbing on the bonnet to leave large dents and a broken windscreen in its wake. The wandering seal evaded capture for some time, roaming the streets of Newstead, with police warning the public not to approach the marine mammal to avoid agitating it. One more reason why I left Australia. The absence of large terrestrial predators is a real and ongoing problem.
