Hey guys, If I go out around Sooke area, where would be the best spot to stop the boat and cast for pinks?

Is it a better idea to troll for them?

thanks

I've had some pretty good success in other years drift jigging around beacher bay to pedder bay. We we're using Zelda jigs and catching them in the top 40feet of water. I think it's more fun jigging or casting for pinks when they're around.

Good luck.

Start fishing in about 450 feet of water and head towards the States when you start hitting them just do figure eights. But as the run starts to build in the nezt few weeks you'll be able to find them anywhere.Fish from 40 to 100 feet deep green hotspot on one side red hotspot on the other,24 to 36 inch leader just experiment.troll at about 2.5 mph,use a pink squirt or hootchie, casting may not be as productive as trolling.Don't wear your Sunday best they are messy fish in the boat.P.S the tide lines are the best spot, just make sure you have a proper sized boat,it can get quite rough on the tide changes.Have fun, DAN
