smelt fishing

Anyone ever fish for smelts in Campbell or Comox area, as a kid we used to go to pipers in Nanaimo and I would like to give it a try closer to home in Campbell. What time of year is good I think it was at halloween when i was a kid. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Was wonder the same thing since I am visiting Campbell river for a week for some coho beach fishing but love smelts just send u a pm.
