Last year we asked participants how to make the derby better and we’ve made changes. It still remains a 1 day derby but a 2 day event.

Weather was good - cool and little wind. Fishing was good for some and not so good for others
as one might expect. 57 chinooks entered by 133 rods (tickets). About 50/50 split between
wild (unclipped) and hatchery (clipped) fish. Largest was 23.1 lb, second 21.5 lb and third 17.0 lb.

Here are your winners:

Chase Mollberg 23.1

Mike Stutzel 21.5 LBS

Ryan Melvin 17.0 LBS

The final accounting won't be in for a while but it looks like we will be able to throw a good chunk of money to Salmon Enhancement.
We feel badly for the organizers of the JDF Derby. They have always put on a wonderful derby. These derbies are a lot of fun but they take a lot of work and volunteer labor to organize and run. Let's hope we see a return of the JDF derby as we will all miss it and the good work it has done for local fish enhancement.
