a good friend is going to be in Cabo for a month around Christmas and New Years. he is looking for info regarding shore fishing down there.
Anyone on here done that? I'm going to give him a hand with setting up a shore casting outfit but need some ideas

I’ll be there in Nov. fished the beaches in The hotel corridor which is between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Had a handful of Sierra on from the beach. Nov. should be that much better I hear.

I have nothing but good things to say about the friendly service I’ve received at the San Jose store over the years
The Cabo store…..not so much and I have been going down there for 30 years

As for gear:
I used a 4 pc. Surf casting rod. 11’ I believe. Not as long as I would like but does the trick. I tried floating sebile plugs (zero takers) and zingers (few hits) as well the yellow sebile lure that has lots of teeth marks on it. The Penn battle II is honestly too big and heavy for the rod. If I had to redo it I would get the smaller penn. I was down in March 2022. Fishing apparently is way better in November. We will see! Good luck to your buddy.

FYI, fishing offshore is off the hook for Marlin that time of year

Contemplating doing a boys trip down there next October (late) for just that reason.
you can go even later for good marlin.. every early december we go.. last year was 23 to the the boat. in 4 hours of fishing.
fish live bait, hook up and the captain backs down while someone plays the fish, another fisher moves up to the bow with a livebait to hook up another. and repeat. crazy fishery.

Sorry this thread was from last year but I figured I’d spark it up again. Hitting the beach in 5 more sleeps! Here’s a few pics of what I ended up with last November. Small Rooster, it’s mom or dad was lurking by but I couldn’t meet them. A nice snook that was a battle and a barking fish, can’t remember the name. Lost a few Sierra too. Either way was a good time as the family sleeps I do what I love! Be down for the week trying for more. Will post pics this time when I get back.

Good times! FYI the panga fishing is outstanding right now if you got a few spare bucks

I've got the 13th booked on the panga with the wife and no real plans to bring any fish home we'll see though. I see the Wahoo are starting to show up hopefully my bucket list of fish to catch gets shorter in a few days.
