ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Southeast halibut tour operators have won a reprieve from federal regulators in their quest to overturn a recent bag limit reduction.
The National Marine Fisheries Service had imposed a one halibut per day bag limit that became effective June 1.
But a federal judge has issued a temporary restraining order against the rule at the request of 11 Southeast charter operators.
The bag limit reduction rule has been stayed until June 20, when another hearing will take place to determine whether or not the reduction will be enforced this summer.
