Broke off a Rod tip eye today. Does anyone have a recommendation for lower mainland repair. Thanks

What kind of rod?

It's an easy DIY fix.

You may be able to use the old tip guide. If it's still usable then hold the tip guide with a pair of pliers and heat the tube end with a lighter and pull out the broken off rod piece with a pair of needle nose pliers .

You may be able to whittle down the tip of your rod so that the diameter still fits, go easy on this, there may be some thread wrapping that needs to be removed. If it's too narrow then buy a new tip guide with the right diameter for your rod tip and a stick of hot melt glue. Clean off the tip of rod and dry fit the guide to make sure it's the right diameter, you want it to go on fairly easily but not too loose. Then hold the tip guide with a pair of needle nose pliers and heat the tube end with a lighter, (not too much or it will discolour) then scoop up some glue with the hot tip piece and quickly stick it on the rod before the glue hardens.

Make sure the tip guide lines up with the other guides, you can heat it again a little if you need to adjust it.

If you fish often and have guests on board often, rod tip breaks will happen. I just keep a selection of rod tips on board, a hot glue stick and a big lighter. It takes about 1min to repair and the "kit" of repair items ran me around $10-15 total.
