Rod holder mounting for downrigger

Hey guys,

Currently I have a pair of 1106s mounted near the back of my 17.5fter. I want to install rocket launcher holders approximately 3ft in front of the riggers (towards the bow) to make it easier for grabbing the rod.

Just wondering if anyone has experience with this set up? Pros and cons? Currently the rod holder I use is on the boom. Is a 3ft separation too much for being in front of the rigger.

Exactly how I mounted the holders on my boat, much better. But prior to doing that read through this thread, don’t want to read of another fisher loosing expensive gear.
