alright, so in the beginning i was originally a bass angler, however i got bored and decided to take up some bigger game fish and just an all round change. over the past 3 or 4 weeks ive been spending lots of money (probably to much) on saltwater tackle. what aloud me to do this was that i sold all my fresh water tackle, anyway what i have now is a medium/heavy action rod (9 ft calypso seahawk) a large south bend infinity reel spooled with berkley solar 25 pound big game line. is this sufficient for pier fishing?
im looking to catch dog fish, rock cod, greenling, pretty much anything that will bite i will be happy with as im only catching and releasing.

one evening when you have nothing better to do, take a walk on the breakwater down near where the cruiseships dock. You will probably find a few people fishing there. Watch for a while, then go a talk to the ones that seem sociable, most of the time you can get a lot of information on technique and best practices. Have fun.
