This is how my boat top guy told me to do it.
Make sure its all clean with a mild soap and water and really rinse it very good you dont want any soap residue on it then dry in a heated garage (for this time of year) or basement then spray with what scott said or I use aqua-tite seems to work for me I even use it on my hunting boots.
