Just a reminder that prawns will close on September 4 as the pulse fishing is starting, so please check your regs for your area before heading out.

They allow you to fish 2 weeks of the month until the regular season reopens next year.

Thanks for the heads up on the prawn closure,weasonedog. Got a couple soaking as we speak,so will be pulling them on
Sun. for awhile. Doing OK,but not too many jumbos. Mostly smalls and mediums.

Prawn and Shrimp pulse fishing closures: The harvest of prawns and shrimp by trap, ring net, or spear while diving, will close in the following Subareas:

• Subareas 17-5, 17-6, and 17-9 (Stuart Channel)[map];
• Subareas 19-7 to 19-12 inclusive (Saanich Inlet)[map];
• Subareas 23-1 to 23-3 inclusive (Alberni Canal)[map]

These areas will be closed for the following periods:

•

  [*]Oct. 1 to Oct. 15, 2012;
  [*]Nov. 1 to Nov. 15, 2012;
  [*]Dec. 1 to Dec. 15, 2012;
  [*]Jan. 1, 2013 until further notice based on spawner index testing.

Pulse= two weeks open, two weeks closed, repeat

Go get em. I have been on Saanich Inlet all week, feasting on prawns and stocking up for the winter. 2 traps using pellet bait has been bringing 85-125 prawns/day at 255 ft.
