Here’s the beginning of my last build thread. This one is the keeper! It’s getting close to time for ordering the materials, so we’re finalizing the CAD files. Here’s the first batch of ****.

-30’ x 10’4”, plus an extended “catwalk” to account for the hydraulic jackplates this one is getting.
-Twin Honda 5.0L v8 BF350s
-Bow thruster in the port sponson
-Raymarine 12”(x1) and 9”(x3) Axioms, Ray73 vhf, Quantum 2 radar, autopilot, and M625 FLIR
-Cabin sliding doors on both sides with aft drop-down curtain
-Sliding rear windows
-4 Blue Marlin custom bucket seats with armrests and flip up bolsters (front 2): all with Scandinavian Seat Suspension Systems full swivel, slide, and suspension bases
-Starboard boarding door
-Twin single sponson berths
-Storage up the wazzu
-Twin 70 gallon in floor insulated fix boxes
-Extra large Freeman aluminum hatches in each motor well providing easy access to bilge components
-Huge anchor locker on the bow
-Starboard davit
-6 Scotty plugs: 2 aft, 2 midship, 2 at the bow
-Talking with Boatskinz about wrap ideas (possibly some sort of orange/white camo pattern
-50 gallon Defiance bait tank with filet table
-20 gallon freshwater tank with transom sink
-Burnewiin mounts throughout: 6 aft, 2 midship, 2 at the bow.

We still need to show all the cabin rod holders (8 along the back and 11 up each side) and boarding door.

We removed the bow seat/storage box from in front of the cuddy. Gives us tons more room fro fish from the bow. I’ll probab
add a 45-65 quart cooler up there. We also removed 2 seats from the cabin (I don’t want to fish with 6 people too often). That opened up gobs more room in the cockpit.74163128360__5819DC5B-A969-4FC1-8238-FC870D0E9B28.jpeg

Side doors for Erica and I, plus integrated foot rests with storage. One will probably end up a trash can. We’re getting 2 5x Plano box cabinets for the front area and a 3x Plano box for the stern from Boat Outfitters. Underneath the front 2 will be another cabinet with 3-4 shelves to hold our orange storage boxes) 74163138511__4BF4ECEF-6347-4A26-9C45-1E085831AA38.jpeg

#1 had twin 9” Axioms on the transom, I changed to 1 9” on the transom and 1 underneath the aft of the cabin for #2. I like the twin transom ones better, so we’re going back to that. Since we’ll usually only have 4 people aboard, no reason for transom seats. This gives us more storage and cockpit space.74172231030__40E7FE9C-F624-4163-9FD2-CD2FBD128673.jpeg

Your builds are always top-notch...definitely cool to see something so dialled in for a hardcore fishing crew, even if it is too hardcore for me!

I'm really looking forward to hear how these new V8 Hondas perform for you. How did you select the Honda vs the new Yamaha 4.3L V6 350 or the Merc V10 350/400, or even sticking with another pair of the Suzuki 350s?

#1 had DF300s and #2 had DF350s. Both require 89 octane or better. Our marina only has 87, so we have to add octane boost every refueling. Never again. I didn’t obtain any appreciable improvement in top end or efficiency going from the 300s to the 350s, but I did notice the added grip from the duoprops. I’m a fan of “no replacement for displacement”. Yamaha only enlarged their v6 300 by 0.1L to get to 350hp. Honda is a 5.0L V8 and Merc is a V10. So either the Merc or Honda were natural choices. It was partially cost (Hondas came in low enough) and partially some chats with a couple folks that sealed the deal for Honda. 700 ponies on a boat weighing less than 10k# dry are more than enough.

And no, their will be no for sale sign hung on this one for quite some time.😂

I understand this one isn’t for sale but as far as I know the resale on Hondas in British Columbia is almost zero? Are they getting popular again in your neck of the woods?

I figure that by the time I sell this, the buyer won’t care what motors are on it because the hours will be crazy high. But, we have tons of boats down here running Hondas.

I need help on the wrap. Initially, I wanted to see a fair bit of orange camo, Reached out to a couple of folks and Larry with Boatskinz really impressed me with his ideas.

What really caught my eye was the cat eyes on the house. I thought that was a nice, though subtle, touch. The salmon is quite cool, even though I prefer tuna.
IMG_3751.jpg

So he changed the salmon to a couple tuna, which need some refinements to look more like our albacore. Perhaps one side with albacore and the other with salmon?
IMG_3753.jpeg

But then he sent this. No camo at all, and I really like it too.
IMG_3752.jpeg

One concern I had for the wrap is I want the boat to be seen when visibility is low. That’s tough with an all aluminum hull. Not sure #3 allows for that. What do y’all think?

Well begun is half done…. She’s coming to life 😍😍😍

She got flipped earlier this week. Looking more boaty. Lots of labor welding up all this skeleton. Things can go much quicker now. I’ll be up there next week and get more pics. IMG_2234.jpegIMG_2231.jpeg

Not sure if you have already ordered the Honda's but apparently Suzuki is coming out with a larger motor in the next couple of months (400 or 425?). Not sure if it will require high test fuel or not.

Hondas are ordered already. Had to make sure things would be ready for the Seattle boat show. And, after Suzuki’s issues with early 350s, no thanks on beta testing future new models for them 😂

Visited Allied last week. Lots of work got done.

Battery switches and circuit breaker cabinet above a 5-Plano cabinet.
IMG_4533.jpeg

First aid compartment above another 5-Plano cabinet.
IMG_4532.jpeg

Each motor gets a 125 gallon fuel tank.
IMG_4531.jpeg

These are not wimpy built aluminum boats. Tons of structure and support. I giggle when folks make the generic statement about tin boats being lighter weight…
IMG_4538.jpeg

Cuddy is the same as #2, but with 3 more forward storage cabinets. Each sponson has a 7’ long single berth.
IMG_4541.jpeg

Each bed is made up of 3 cushions. Each cushion can be removed to access storage/bilge underneath.
IMG_4543.jpeg

Have a look at the structural support in the bow of each sponson. Really easy to see how these rigs are built to handle our adverse conditions.
IMG_4549.jpeg

Spoiler alert - she won’t make it to the Seattle Boat Show. We pushed ours out to make time for other customers. I’m in no hurry, so getting lodge boats finished and sent up north makes more sense.

More progress. Floor is welded in. Transom is taking shape. Walk thru will get cut out. Sinks on both sides. Port side is plumbed to a 20 gallon FW tank.

IMG_4594.jpeg

Cuddy storage compartments. Bow boxes will fit a 5 gallon bucket or milk crate.
IMG_4586.jpeg

Bilge storage if I want it. The bottom plate is for mounting the forward bilge pumps… just in case.
IMG_4587.jpeg

1/2 insulated fish boxes in each sponson. You can see the frame of the starboard boarding door. Transom compartments will have batteries, charger, power steering pumps, and 3 tray Plano rack on each side.
IMG_4591.jpeg

IMG_4592.jpeg

I should have taken a picture of the coped drains in the motor wells. No chance for those little puddles in the corners, growing algae.
IMG_4593.jpeg
11 rod holders on each side. The space over the cabin door is so we can get the bean bags up and down. 8 more rod holders across the back.
IMG_4597.jpeg

The little package tray around the inside of the cabin ceiling is for things like a box of nitrile gloves, 1-gallon ziplocks, etc.
IMG_4600.jpeg

Thanks for the update I was checking out the classifieds on BD and was wondering how she was progressing. What’s the stand up height in the cabin going to be, for the Clydesdale’s in the group?

I can’t imagine having as much room to fish, store and move around as you will have. Beanbags!!

I had 5 of us on my boat Sunday and have a long story about the kids getting to play on the bow while underway, against my former rules, and how it will never happen again. The side door, walk around and cabin size look very attractive.

6’5” inside the cabin. Same height as #2.

I don’t let people sit in front of the cabin while underway. Tone wrong wave at the wrong time and bad things can happen. This doesn’t apply to trolling speed.
