We are planning a 2 week canoe & camping trip [8D] on the north end of Vancouver Island (Campbell River to Port Alice) from June 9th to 24th. Hoping to explore [?] as many lakes and beaches as our Honda Civic can reach. It has been 25 years [V] since I last did a similar trip. Is it too early to target salmon [:p] from with a flyrod the beaches? Any advice [^] would be more than welcome (steve@aye1.com).

Yes I would say that you would be too early for beach fishing.
But there is still lots of fresh water that you could tackle (pun intended).

I would suggest you do the Sayward canoe route.June would be a great time to do it as the water levels should be good. It's a great trip takes 3 or 4 days. There is a fare bit of portaging??(boat packing)the longest is 6 km I think. It starts at Mohun lake just north of Campbell River and does a complete circle.Lots of islands to camp on.One section has some class two rapids if the water is high enough. All lakes have trout in them.Take your bug spray.BC parks should have info on their web site.
