I've thought of something similar to this: attach my line to the boat with a downrigger clip and have my rod set up on shore. catch a fish an play it with the rod. would be really useful in situations where you have to fish from shore but the fish are out further than you can cast. IMO would be more fun than having the boat drag the fish back to shore. Never tried it though.
