Volunteers continue search for kayaker missing near Sooke

The Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre has suspended its air and sea portion of the search for a kayaker missing in the Sooke area. The decision to call of stand down part of the search for Timothy Ross was made at 5 p.m.

Given the time that has passed, I hope he made it to shore or a rock. At least he has a wet suit.

I went surfing Sunday and there was a serious swell rolling in (18' @ 18 seconds). It would have been huge between Sombrio and PR. Sure hope he made it in somewhere safe.

Kayak found in Sooke believed to belong to missing man

Searchers have recovered a kayak believed to belong to Timothy Ross, who has been missing since setting out on a kayaking day trip Sunday.
