Just wondering if a 6'6'' medium action Shimano rod would work for coho in rivers or is it too small.Dont wanna break my new rod.lol.Thanx

sounds like a trout rod, which i have caught cohos and chum on but unless you have a fair bit of fairly heavy (14 pound plus) test on there to turn one when it takes off downstream you might be in some trouble. however it can be done. but if you want to get serious go for a 9 foot spinning rod for gear, and a 10-11 foot float rod W. a level wind.

Fowl hook, light action spinning for coho is by far the way to go if ya got any experience at it.. Fishing streams like the Eng. are only enjoyable when chasing a nickle bright fish downstream. That is what makes it an addiction, is it not???-dirty

Alright i think i'll give it a try i dont really need a bigger rod cuz i usually do all my fishing for trout and bass thanx for the help.FH.
