mariner 9.9 will not power up

My mariner bogs when I try to speed it up. I can only get a fast troll. I put a diaphram kit in and there was no difference. I even put a carb off a 8 hp with no change.Changed the plugs. When I pull the bottom plug off the motor dies. The top plug not so much. Quite a difference. Any suggestions. Thanks Willydw

I had a little merc that would troll great and idle fine all day long, but as soon as you gave it the juice it would bog out and stall
turned out to be the coil

This motor does not troll smooth. I also changed both coils. Not sure where to go next.

Sounds like you have no spark on one cylinder, engine will run rough on one cylinder. Verify this first by pulling the plug, reconnecting it and then turning it over with the plug against the engine block, if you have no spark, trouble shoot the electrical. Don't just guess at parts, cheaper to buy or borrow a cheap digital multi meter and go through systematically.
