Lake Cowichan

Whole in the Water

Was up fishing Lake Cowie this weekend. Did pretty well in the east end.

Just wondering if anyone ever fishes the narrows that connect the Honeymoon Bay portion (near Gordon Bay) with the larger part of the rest of the lake?

Do you fish the shoreline in the narrows or down the middle?

Gotta be fishing moving in and out through there just never tried it.

Fished nixon or shaw .Good times ,big fish, the coho should be left in the water or you might end up with gooh everywhere.

Has anyone ever caught any large brown trout in the lake. Used to fish the lake a lot 20 years ago and caught Coho, dollies , rainbow, 2 steelhead and lots of big cutthroat.

Been a while, but it seems to me that the Gordon Bay side shallows up with a fairly uneven bottom. The Youbou side
is much deeper with a sheer dropoff. That's the side you should fish.It can also get very choppy in there, especially in
the summer. The wind just funnels right through there and it can get pretty nasty at times.Hope this helps. FF

I've fished with great success along the wall across from gordon bay. We just call it the bluffs. Dad hooked into a 7 pounder there a few years back. All our fishing has been near shore and on the surface.
