Jabsco Wash Down

just bought a Jabsco Washdown pump system and was told by salesman to mount the pump upside down so that water can drain from the chambers. Was just wondering is this common practice? If so it would mean I would have to do some reconfiguring of the plumbing. Bloodbuggy

Had one on my Orca for 12 years-never heard of that one-what is the advantage supposed to be of the waters draining from the chambers? I would give it a miss as I'm sure the Jabsco literature would mention this if it was the way to go.

To be on the safe side for those fishing the big lakes all winter, maybe wait till you get the boat out of the water and run the pump dry for thirty seconds or so. I think that if your boat is left in the water and the intake is in the water while moored there is probably enough heat transfer from the lake to keep everything liquid.
