Hourston weight

From what I have heard from the older generation of boaters those steel brackets were super light and very strong. They were made by Gil which later became Armstrong. The reason I believe they dropped them was when the super heavy four strokers came in and the obvious corrosion issues. 9B58DB6B-0AA4-42B1-A70B-D49BF45DEFB6.jpegIf you zoom on the photo of that 20’ Hourston (not the attached picture of the boston whaler) it’s a Mercury 150hp 2 stroke which was 403lbs according to the NADA guides. I believe the other reason they were used was to keep the LOA down (Something I don’t like about my pod).
