Hook information

Hi Guys,

Awhile ago I got these hooks from a buddy who was packing in fishing after 76 years (don't know why but ....) .

I think some of them were commercial hooks and some where "lets give them a try .... no good... put them here and forget them" hooks

Any one know anything about them ?

the above is a gold colored hook , 5-6" long, with the markings "williams 90" and "made in canada".

The above markings , if any , unreadable.

So anyone know anything about these hooks and what they target ?

top photo is a Williams whitefish.
Next photo-left column from top: Tom Mack, Palister P2B, Palister Diamond Lance, Luhr Jensen Needlefish, LJ LG Johnson, LJ Manistee.
Right Column from top: Silver Horde Feisty or LJ Mansitee, SH Feisty or Manistee, Palister P1A, Silver Horde Loupak, Feisty/Manistee/Gibbs FST, LG Johnson(or maybe Canadian Wonder), I'm stumped on the last one.

The companies all copied each other's lures after the patent period ran out.
They will all catch springs, but the pink/orange ones will do better on cohos and pinks especially if there is krill around.
The big Whitefish is probably silver or gold plate and should shine right up. I believe it's a Lake trout lure but would probably work for springs at the right speed. Change that horrible treble to a single. It might work better with the hook on the other end.
The hook is on the wrong end of the brass P1A in the right column. Some people prefer black hooks on unpainted spoons for Galvanic corrosion reasons.

I have the last one as well on lower right only in nickel plating but pretty sure its not peetz unless it was copied years later.. The one I have has a red ring on it...And it was from early 80's saanich inlet days where it was developed... I looks like someone custom painted it...

The lower corner spoon is a James Babalos creation IIRC could be Peetz though.

The top 5on the right and the bottom 1 on the left were categorized as "egg spoons" ( because of their shape). They were mainly used for early season coho, imitating krill. I still have some kicking around somewhere.

IMG_0540.jpgIMG_0541.jpgYes that bottom spoon looks like a peetz. This spoon here was stamped by Ivan peetz and painted by his sister Judy, around late 50's to mid 60's.Nickname was "HOOKUM SPOON"

I collect spoons, have some of most of those, but have never sold one. I think you have about 8 bucks worth there. 50 cents a piece and $2.50 for the big one.
But what would I know, I fished mostly hootchies all summer.

Thanks, I guess I'll just have the excitement of MAYBE putting a couple of slabs behind them and that is what its all about
