Hey Guy's

I know lots of you guy's like Harbour Chandler, and so do I but...

Recently my facebook page has a constant add indicating that they have sales prices on lots of stuff. I am interested in upgrading to HP Downriggers so I had a look.

There price Regular $819.99 on sale for $669.99 sounds like good deal

https://www.harbourchandler.ca/shop/fishing/downriggers/scotty-electric-downrigger-2106/

However when you look at Pacific Net there regular price is $669.97

https://pacificnetandtwine.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=11_63_379&product_id=672

Seems like a bit of a scam that Harbour looks to be inflating prices then advertising a big sale on Facebook....

I will continue to support Pacific Net..

That’s how a lot of those sales work, they mark the hell out of everything then drop it 30% and everyone thinks they are getting a wicked deal lol

That strategy has worked well for C. Tire for many years. I, like most people, where possible, wait for the 30 to 80% off sales.
Canadian tire is ridiculous with there sales, I didn’t trust the sale pricing anymore lol. You really have to know the actual prices

MSRP is quite a bit higher though. Many tournaments we go to have this downrigger as a prize or silent auction item with a value well over $1000.

I do not understand the point of this thread. $669.99 seems to me a better deal than $699.97 but what do I know!
The point is obviously that the regular price at one place is $120 cheaper than at the other, so the $150 dollars off sale isn't quite as good as it seems. Still a better price in the end, and I'm sure anyone making that $$ purchase would do a bit of research anyway.

This is one of those threads that ends up going nowhere. Every business has their own way of operating and we try to stay out of their kitchen. Different people like different shops for various reasons...thankfully there are still a few around for us to choose from.

I have had nothing but good experiences with them. If you need them to sharpen their pencils a bit, they do. I think at the end of the day, one just needs to do their research before hand.

The customer service and advice they provide, along with the rest of the local shops that still exist is great. Although the big box stores have their place, we don’t want to be stuck with just those. Being helped by someone with zero experience and zero knowledge is a tough one.

I will also pay the extra buck knowing i am supporting my local shop and keep those $$ in the community, regardless how they come up with their final “price”. It’s on me to be satisfied with what I am paying for something.

Keep it local...

Just my thoughts.
