Gimbal mounts for Scottys

Bought 2 new 1106 with the 1026 swivel base . The 1026 bolt pattern doesn't match up with the old mounts . Was looking at the gimbal scotty has for rear built in rod holders . Have an Explorer which has the rod holders . Just didn't want to drill more holes if this a good option . ?

if your using electric downriggers with even 30" arms and 12-15lb balls your going to be very lucky if you don't
strip out the gimbal pin in the rod holder
my buddie has a regal and there is no flat area to mount his riggers so he used the gimbals
having hung up on bottom a few times hence he's twisted out the pins a few times
fishing shallow your ok but for deep fishing its a risk you may have to take

my solution for him was to make an arch which slotted down into the gimbal mounts
and weld a platform to mount swivel bases on
so there would be less stress on the one gimbal pin

have a look and turn the bas 90 deg. there is a slight difference in the distance of the holes
