Gibbs stainless downrigger wire

Bought 400' of Gibbs stainless downrigger wire and put 200' onto each DR this spring. It was a little cheaper than Scotty wire. I notice that there is already a significant amount of rust coating the wire. Surprised to see this forming already. Anyone else find this?

Mine lasted one season (came with the DRs I bought) before the rust was too much. At the end of the year I had to hacksaw off the bottom three rows as they were rusted together. Never again.

Its probably a mix of stainless strands and not-so-stainless strands. Braid doesnt rust!
