Is there anybody out there that could help me with the rigging up of sturgeon gear.I had my first adventure with this beast got a couple around 6ft .I guess my halibut set up worked but would like to know the proper tie up and hook sizes to use .Can you use a double hook set up like we do for halibut?? help

Single barbless only 8/0 or 9/0 snelled to a 130# tufline leader about 3 feet long, attached to a heavy duty swivel, above that a 16 oz weight rigged to slide.

You can go lighter with the leader (use your mainline) but the bony scutes on the sides of Sturgeon can abrade the leader also they sometimes plow through junk on the bottom while battling.

The illustration as linked shows a bit of what I mean-I disagree with using mono too stiff and the pyramid weight will hang up on the Fraser too much use any shape but. (unless that's all you have lead is expensive after all)
