Since 2008 Fraser Riverkeeper (FRK) and community partners in Chilliwack have cleaned 26.5 tonnes of garbage from the banks of the Fraser, preventing it from being carried into the river by high water during the spring freshet. On April 20th FRK is again partnering with Woodtone Industries, the City of Chilliwack, Rotz Disposal, Habitat Conservation Trust, RBC the and many other community partners, organizations and volunteers to help clean up habitat near Gill Bar, a sensitive spawning area for Chinook salmon.

Come out to help keep our river clean! The family-friendly event will feature a two-hour clean-up, activities for children, and a free barbecue for volunteers.

When: April 20, 2013, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Gill Bar, at the end of Gill Road
What: A two-hour garbage clean-up, followed by a community barbecue

FRK is also working with several groups to seek solutions for ending illegal dumping in and near the Fraser River. To come out on April 20th or get involved in long-term solutions, send Lauren Hornor an email at info@fraserriverkeeper.ca or call 604.786.0888.
