made it out a fraction of the time I usually would this season, also the first season I haven’t made it to Haida Gwaii since 2014 . 12 weddings and 9 stags will do that to ya .
Still managed a few days out here and there , highlight was putting a long time fishing buddy Wayno decker on his first tyee off bremner Pt just south of cape caution ( 40.5 x 24,5 , 31lbs bled on the dock ) , and a fun afternoon of hali fishing that followed , anchored up in sub 60’ of water !

First time out this year in the Tyee Pool and managed this too short beauty, the fish, not Merv, that weighed but 27 1/2 lbs.
Great fight and Merv remains my most successful rod-holder based on more than one go out and CPUE.
Favorite memory from 2022.
Fish in the boat. Fat enough but two inches short to make 30 pounds. sigh... Slimed the boat up pretty good, too. Note plug, an older commercial style Lucky Louis shovel-nose in a faded Pearl Pink colour. Consistently gets bitten.
