Price change and bump
I sold my 2016 Etec 15 h.p., electric start, tilt and trim, just 100 hours, for $1900 a few months ago after asking more, throughout 2022 but with no offers. They are great motors but not much of a market for them any more. Sorry to say this but that's the way it is.

The general perception now of marine 2 stroke is dirty, old technology. Evinrude abruptly ceasing production underlines this in the minds of many. I bought my Etec a couple of months after this, and the seller was desperate to move it in the light of the factory's decision. Good deal for me, and it has delivered over 200 hours of flawless service so far. The torque, fuel economy and smooth quiet handling make it the best power I've ever had.

The injected E-Tec was terrific technology but Bombardier screwed that potential by extremely poor marketing, small dealer network and absent after sales support. They are every bit as "clean" as most 4 strokes. The 100:1 oil ratio meant less oil used in 100 hours than a typical 4 stroke oil change. And automatic winterizing!

The deeper problem was lack of sales in the OEM space. Despite outstanding technology that overcame the challenges of two stroke, the market had become convinced that four stroke was clean and reliable, two stroke wasn't. Not unlike Betamax videotape system losing to VHS format despite being technically superior.

The repower market wasn't enough to make Etec profitable. Motors hung on new boat transoms is critical.
