Downrigger Wire

What does everyone do when a strand or 2 of the wire breaks? I guess the choices are: bite the bullet and put on a new wire or cut and splice the old wire[?] Reason I ask is mine broke at the 40 foot mark. If I cut it there I'll still have 260' to work with and that's probably what I'll do but I'm usually not that lucky[8]

turn it around or replace, but cut off old section

Hi urch-- I had the same problem at the 36 ft mark, but mine dident break just a couple of strands ( just enough to stick your hand )cut it off a few inches and reinstalled the cannon ball clip and it seems ok now, the wire got kinked i think and i used the other piece to hold up the rose bush
