Do Springs Eat Pacific Cod?

Curious does anybody know if springs eat Pacific Cod?

yes, see recent reports in van saltchuck thread

I've seen both pacific cod and juvenile hake in big springs on this side and the west coast ... sometimes even over top of the herring that is around. any ideas on how to mimic these "alternative baitfish" ?

I tried big plugs in cod patterns when I knew big fish were around and feeding on them. They don't seem to key in on them consistently though, I've never had success. Super tackle has some large hootchies in patterns that would imitate well.

got a spring last May with a 12 in P cod in it...:)

Based on the colour of those plugs, it was definitely P-Cod that were stealing my chovies at the Hump on Saturday. :)

Managed a couple keeper springs on bait in the 90-140 ft range.

I've heard Hali's like p-cod,

seafever - those plugs look deadly! you should give 'em a run off Nanaimo sometime! Kelly - what # plugs did you try? ... I've always thought a 6 inch plug in a turd colour with a glow belly would be a killer either in the spring off Nanaimo or in the summer out on the banks.
