Thats just not right, can you imagine how they felt seeing that ship appear then disapear.
and what about the passengers that saw the fisherman why wouldnt they persist when they realized they werent going to help?

Having grown up on the ocean and knowing the protocol ..I wouldn't have stopped peserting the crew until the ship altered course and investigated. However the passengers involved probably didn't have that background. I feel sorry for the passengers involved as I'm sure it has effected them with thoughts of guilt. I would definitely want to talk to the crew member who was supposed to relay to the bridge to see if that happened.

very sad. If anything can be taken away from this its the value of a portable vhf as a nessasary piece of safety gear.
