where are the best crabbing spots in victoria from shore/dock?

thanks

The best spot I've ever seen is off the dock at Sooke Harbour Marina. I will guarantee full pots in about 30 minutes. Lots of ladies and undersized crabs you have to sift through to get what you are looking for, but there are a ton of them there!!!

Only 2 of the 2 dozen or so places I have dropped my traps. :(

Still looking for "crab haven". [)]

I see folks crabbing off the Central Saanich's James Island Road wharf and in Sidney on the big fishing pier as well as the (government?) dock at the foot of Beacon Avenue from time to time. Not sure what success is like but I have witnessed traps coming up with Red Rock and Dungerness at all locations.

But as TenMile notes that Sooke dock rocks man!

i thought sooke warf dock was closed to crabbing. i used to go all the time with my grandpa and one time this guy was a complete dick and said get the "Eff" out of here, not allowed to throw traps here anymore! I was very shocked. :( Am i wrong or was he just a bitter old man?
