Does anyone know when commercial prawning will open this year?

I have heard usually between the 4th and the 12th.
We are trying to plan a trip just before they start.

I could be mistaken, but I'm fairly sure that there are commercial traps around the gulf islands right now...

Nope. Could be two things, dfo test fisheries or FSC (first Nations).

The 2017 IFMP shows proposed opening date for prawns as 11 May 2017.
