Anyone know a closure date

I'm docked in Nanaimo Harbour right now and all the commercial prawn boats are here cleaning gear. Talked to a guy and he said today was the last day.
Hundreds and hundreds of traps that they are power washing and hauling away.
Currently 30 degrees here. Fricken hot!

The commercial prawners are still working it off the Victoria waterfront this morning. I was just walking the waterfront sax point and can see a commercial vessel surrounded by seagulls just south of the yellow can.

I reported this potential illegal prawning to dfo hotline.. they confirmed the commercial prawning season is closed off Victoria. I asked how they follow up, dfo said they have officers in the area and if they aren’t busy, they may be able to check it out today but no guarantee..
