Boat Covers

I have a 16' calais and I am looking for a new cover. Any advice on where to look?

You could look up some part numbers on here (http://www.westlandcovers.com/)and call your local marine shop.

I purchased one from these guys last year: http://www.boatcovers.com/ -- fabric is excellent quality. They make them for the exact fit of many models.

is there a boat cover that will fit over top of the existing canvas ?

I had one made for a 19' Sea Dory by Colin at Top Stitch Upholstery in Victoria. He was fast, pleasant and reasonable about $500.

I do that with mine. The cover is designed to fit the boat with the canvas down, but being a lasy-arse, I leave it up. The cover still fits well but is about 12" short. The only part of the boat uncovered is the back deck/motor-well which has a good drain anyhow. Gets a couple of leaves and pinecones in it but otherwise its an area I don't generally worry too much about.

If I were to do it again, would order the cover about 24" longer and maybe 8" wider but otherwise works out great.

I bought one for my 20' Trophy about three years ago from iboats.com. Fits like a glove and well made.
