Black Box/Braided Downrigger Wire

In the previous discussion about braided, someone mentioned using a transponder to transmit the electrical charge from the black box into the water.

Wondering more about this???

The only thing I can think of is the transom mount kit,basically a wire across the back of the boat,the black box just transmits a charge to it.DAN

I use the box to let me know if my boat is giving off the proper voltage. If it is close to 650-750 millivolts you are OK.

I've found that snake oil works just fine.

Pro-Troll makes a wire that stretches acorss the bottom of your boat's transom that hooks up to their black box. All this will do is put a postive charge around the stern of your boat. As to the range of this charge and how deep it actually goes is anyone's guess.
