Bearing Grease

I was in SG Power ... for a couple of parts and needed a new cartridge of bearing grease for the boat trailer, so rather than run to Cdn Tire I saw a cartridge of "Evenrude Marine EP/Wheel Bearing Grease".
To save some time I picked it up, and probably will use it tomorrow.

It got me wondering if there is any difference between regular bearing grease and a "Marine" bearing grease, given that the wheels are regularly dipped in salt water.

Or what do others use?

Technically marine grease has additives that make it hydrophobic (repels water), thicker, heavier and won't wash out as quickly as standard grease. Standard grease is somewhat hydrophobic but not nearly as good as marine grease and standard grease will mix much more readily with water specially salt water! Anyway you have seen the milky white substance left when a hub has had water contaminated grease in it. Marine grease is much more resistant to this mixing.

I have used that evinrude marine WB stuff and thought it was good stuff.
If I found it cheap I would definitely buy it again.
NAPA sells a good one pretty cheap also.

Thanks guys.
I can't believe I've never run into or thought about this before.
