HELP…Volunteers Needed! Topknot Point: The beach debris is gathered and waiting for a lift!

On September 5th the Stewardship Committee needs 5 people to help with heli-lifting 4 to 5 loads of beach debris from Topknot and Hecht beaches on the north west coast of Vancouver Island. This means driving up on the 4th to prep for the lifts on the 5th, and then driving back down the same day. Admittedly a bit of a grunt, and really bad timing, as the 4th is of course, the Labour Day holiday…. Unfortunately, the 5th is the ONLY date that Living Oceans Society, our partners on the Topknot Cleanup, could get the helicopter.

385 km to Port Hardy from Nanaimo (4 hours (Google maps)) Another 128 km to Topknot on logging road, (about 2 hrs) via Holberg/Winter Harbour. The BCMTNA will reimburse mileage by 25 cents/km (Works out to about $255). Please contact Stephanie at: pastpresident@bcmarinetrails.org if interested.
