Battery selector switch

Just wondering if anyone has any problems with the battery selector switch on their boats,ie engine starting problems or voltage indications. I have been having all sorts of electrical problems New batteries new alternator starter all connections are good.

Yea, they can be a prob from time to time. Most of them can be taken apart so you can clean the contacts.

maybe look for a nicked wire shorting out somewhere? somewhere along the path electrictiy is being disrupted, could be right from your ignition swicth to motor, so start going along all the paths your wires take. youll find it!

Yes -I just had to change a Perko switch because of erratic voltage readings etc etc. Looked like some kind of ground fault. I switched the switch many times back and forth as the web site suggests to no avail. Took it off- ran a volt meter to the in side and I had 12.6V -tried the out side with it on and had anywhere from 5.7 to 10.97V. Changed the switch and it was perfect! Switch had been in 9 years.
