'Aggressive' camping reservation system sparks calls for change

Glad to see they made these changes. Very similar to Washington State Parks booking policy. Don't know why they stuck with the single opening day format so long. Surely their web admin people were advising a change a few years ago, the site was prone to crashing because of the sudden onslaught of traffic.

Agree with the article - good new on the increased funding, but much more needs to be done. Election year goodies, but we'll take it.

Seems to be like there is a natural link with Aboriginal/First Nations and Running Campgrounds. Sharing cultural leanings, respecting and understanding the environment etc.

It'll look good on the campaign trail, but our poor parks are loved far more by the people than by this government. They're spending money on new campsites because they see the return on investment, and using contractors to reduce their cost of doing business. Approaching our publicly owned parks in purely business terms isn't going to work. No one wearing a Parks uniform and holding a biology degree sets foot in many of them from one year to the next, because there's virtually zero in the budget for science. This govt views parks management as an obligation rather than a gateway to better understanding of our province and the world at large. Our parks are an asset, not a liability.
