Hey Mike, In my experience the tie bar between the main and kicker won't work unless the main engine is running depending on your system. I went with the panther steering system and so far it has been great after a year of use. If you can I would also recommend getting a kicker with full tilt etc and try to find one with both the manual pull cord starter and the electric start as it can come in handy if batteries ever go flat for whatever reason.
