Best raingear?

I need new rain gear, I have Viking rubber pants and jacket right now but its very stiff and clumsy. Is there any out there that are 100% waterproof and not rubber ? I don't want water resistant, looking for some that will keep me dry and warm for extended hours out in the rain

Helly imperfect bib pants... Grunden Weather watch Jacket... the best I used to date.... :)

Gage (Grundens) raingear is light, tough and comfy built for commie fishing. Highly recommend it.

Love my Simms pro Dry jacket and bibs, warm and comfy all day even in minus temps

I use the helly Hansen gear for wet weather, tree falling, fishing. Light and very flexible stretch material full waterproof.

X2 on the Gage by Grunden. I just got another set for Christmas this year but my old ones are still hanging in there. Very Comfortable for sure.....

Helly Hanson. Totally recommend it... I got the jacket and gear at mark's...Totally lightweight and comfortable/breathable...

yup the helly set with either a wool or fleece underlayer.

Montane, it's expensive but very tough, light and comfortable. I bought it for work and used it for everything including hunting, fishing and atv'ing. Other than some grease/oil stains it is just as good as it was when I bought it new.

Amen....well worth the investment. Best pants I have ever owned and I have worn rubber stuff right thru to high end Helly offshore sailing pants. Absolutely love the Simms pants....I actually look forward to rain now! :p

Wear do you guys recommend buying quality raingear...say Nanaimo area?

WOW!!!!! that would be about eighthundred US for that outfit. given how this stuff gets abused, that's a huge investment for this retired guy. you guys must be rollin' in the dough up on the island.

Yep... & the can$ is dropping like a rock...your US$ will go little further up here this summer...
btw how much is decent raingear down your way?

Frugal alternative is Cabela's bib pants and Helly Impertech jacket. Pants are lined so great with shorts in the summer when the deluge hits or to start the day when it is a wee bit nippy.

Haha......I am a mainland guy! :p

Yes the stuff is pricey but I don't mind paying for comfort. I didn't go for the jacket as I usually use a North Face or Arcteryx rain shell on top.

They are very comfortable and well designed, cut for comfort etc. I have only had them one season thus far but they held up very, very well; have a buddy who also bought a pair and he loves them too.

I gifted a buddy my old pair of Helly Offshore pants and when searching locally I couldn't find another pair of good ones to try on. I ended up buying a lower quality pair of Helly 'sailing' pants, not the rubber ones and they were just plain and simple uncomfortable.

These Simms ones addressed everything I wanted from new pants.....and having a few gift cards for the local retailer certainly helped! ;)

tackledirect.com sometimes has the simms on at 50% off if your not fussy on color
and free shipping.

Ono Trading on Portsmouth Rd.. They carry lots of Helly Hansen, Pioneer, Viking, and some Grundens. Everything from light weight to bullet proof lol :D.

PNT in Parksville has lots of Grundens / Gage stuff in stock:cool:.

all above are great products , but i destroy my gear pretty quik , little pricy for me ,,,
for a less pricy option ,that keeps ya bone dry ,
Carhart , pants and jacket , yes , a little heavier ,solid rubber , i use them ALOT ,
very herd on them ,pullin pots , worhin round camp etc..
use them in the worst of storms , in pretty chilli weather in the middle of winter ,
stayin dry is the key ta stayin warm !!
love the neoprene wrist cuffs , lasts me 2-3 seasons , think just $125-$150 Jacket and Bib Pants

a little heavy for July August on wcvi , i go ta much lighter Helly Hansen gear

try ta keep bright , just in case somthin goes wrong out there ,
