O-FISH-ALL 2014 Vancouver, Howe Sound, Sunshine Coast Reports Thread!

And;

Effective at 00:01 hours Sunday, August 3rd, 2014 until further notice, the
retention of sockeye is permitted with a daily limit of four (4) per day in
those waters open to salmon fishing, in the following Subareas:

- Subareas 29-6, 29-7, 29-9, 29-10 and 29-11 to 29-17 (Mouth of Fraser River
upstream to Mission).

First report.

I just spoke to a buddy who went out early this am. It was really rough so they holed up for a few hours in setveston. They are out fishing now off steveston, says it has calmed down a lot. They are not seeing a lot of activity on surface or sounder. No activity on rods either. But they are doing it right so if there are fish to be had they should be able to find them.

He will keep me informed if things pick up.

Tight Lines guys

Sockeye are not open down there until Sunday in closer. Make sure they know where they are fishing. They need to be out in 29-3 or 29-4.

The line between 29-9 and 29-10 is the rock breakwater, when I sockeye fish the south arm I'm out deeper in 220'+ of water in 29-3. Most of 29-10 has filled in with silt, if you can see the west van shore line you are out in 29-3

And don't forget to toss back any of the cultus hatch sockeye should you be lucky enough to hook one

Going out for early am in the morning. Not to target socks but poke around for springs. Probably tack our way to the T10 from the north arm. I'll report back

Went fishing from 10-1 in the bell bouy area and picked up 2 small springs between 8-12 lbs
. Both on small 6" herring. Both red. I male 1 female. Tiny fish in bellies. 1 glo green teaser and flasher
The other glow spacleback teaser and green mist flasher. Always fun catching fish solo

And ..... you get to keep both of the fish LOL, Thanks for the report .

Dragged the lines for an hour tonight at the T-10 on the way to Salt Spring ... no springs for us but a few obvious signs on the sounder that Sunday's opening could yield some fish for people.

Saw a school of socks go under the boat West of the bell buoy on the sounder at 30'. Too bad I was rigged for Springs and much deeper.

Pender bluffs on fire.... In terms of number of boat out here this am. Been here an hr an yet to see a net in the water. Just switched to sox gear after one long tack looking for springs with no luck.

Out here now. Quick bite off West van early...just had a big hit in the middle of the Bay. Now en route to QA.

Just got back from 6.5 hours fishing for sockeye in between the bell bouy and jericho beach. a couple of big schools but only 1 bite. The water was very sloppy and hard to fish. A big sail boat came real close to me with a beautiful topless babe at the helm. Made the day worth it. Try again tomorrow.
