Had a great Time in the Davey Derby in Renfrew this weekend! Fishing was on the slow side, but we managed to pick up 6 springs and the 2nd place winner at 33 lbs. The derby is well run with lots of prizes to be won - recommend it to all for next year.

Re: how's the boat launch at the new marina:
If you're speaking of the pacific gateway marina...not very deep. I sae some people tough it out by backing up and slamming on brakes to get their boat off.

Daylight till 11 am was hot on the beach today! The bank is epic rite now as well! Haly is still a bit of a grind though

Motor mooching or on the hook???5 inch or 7....must have been a large wack of fish moving through.I can just imagine...I luv cutpluggin...when everything turns 100%

The beach has been good for awhile now, it slowed for a few days over the Davey Derby but is red hot rite now!!

Fished the beach Monday and Tuesday morning solo and had my limit by 7ish both days. All four fish were around 20lbs with one about 25. Took a friend from work out to the Bank on Wednesday with his two boys. It never really layed down out there that day and was super foggy all day. Only actually saw a few boats that weren't on the radar......lol The Coho were THICK and it was hard to get the gear out. Managed some nice clipped fish and a couple of Springs before some of the crew turned green! Back by noon and had full crab pots as well. Stuck in Van right now for a wedding so I'll have another post Monday......cheers!

We were out to the Bank thurs and fri - Killer!! - had friends from Kelowna on board, they could believe it - filled the box with everything.
Coho at every depth - at one point it was over an hour and a half to get two lines down for springs. Chinook were teeners and a few low twenties - down 190-230' deep. Even trolled up our limits of hali on glow cuttlefish hootchies. Most fish had smallish herring in them so doesn't. seem to be much big bait around. Tried bigger gear to keep Coho off but that didn't produce Chinook for us.
Never did try the beach.
Had a little mixed up getting ice in Nanaimo and I ended up with a box of big Pilchards. Has anyone tried them instead of chovy or cutplug along the beach ( or anywhere for that matter?)

Fished Logan/Camper/East Point/Rockpile on Wednesday and Thursday but was dissapointed to say the least. Fished bait/plugs/hoochies/spoons and didn't come home with any fish. Had 2 decent fish on but lost them at the boat. Fish were being caught on Wednesday for sure, but Thursday most guys were passing with the "where's the fish" hand gesture. Fished all depths and between 630 am and 3 pm. Sorry the report sucks :(

Fished Thursday and today out at the bank. Thursday unbelievable! Today a litle slower and lost a couple to that dam sea lion but still got the limits. Saw him nail a few from others guys. One of the calmest days i've seen for a while. Get out there!

Just back from the weekend. Fishing was still slow for the most part. Two fish for us. Both were my son's first and second springs ever. A 15 on Saturday and a 22 today.

Fished Walbran area this morning and picked up a Spring around 15lbs. Headed out to the Bank to try out some new gear. Flat calm seas made for a quick trip from Walbran. Fished around the NE corner and had lots of Coho action but no springs after an hour or so. Dumped the gear just off the bottom and trolled up some chicken Halis and had another good one on that got off. Back to the dock by 10:30 for brunch with the family and enjoy the sunshine! Back out again in the morning for a full day. Good luck!
