2021 Vancouver-Howe Sound-Sechelt Reports Thread

Fished Tunstall Bay from 11-1:30 today and got two undersized chinooks in 140’, right on bottom. They had no love for the spoons and both fish hit on a chartreuse hoochie.

There were 4 or 6 other boats there too, fishing the slack low tide, including a couple of guide boats. Others were getting occasionally fish too, some undersized, some looked slightly larger. A few seals were around but I didn’t see any fish larceny.

What I did see was a lot of trees in the water. Not logs but trees with leaves still on them that look to have fallen into the water with the recent heavy rain. Careful out there!

Walked out my door at 2:15. Drove to the marina to check on and start the boat. No wind, no rain, f*** it. Ripped out to the Cap and did one pass. 150 FOW, 101 on the rigger, chartreuse lemon lime and a chrome back herring aid skinny g. Great fight. Beautiful fat fat fat 74 cm red. Back in my kitchen at 4:45.

Fished mouth of Squamish on Saturday, launched Porteau cove,. For buddy said lots of chrome Chum in river - river closed but Squamish harbor open on saltwater. so gave it a try. But water was super cloudy with silt, from high water and storms in river runoff, 48 degrees F, visibly in water less than 6 inches put hand in water and cant see your finger tips. . We were joking about fish with bloody noses and wondering how they hell they navigate when cant see at all- that silty. ,. Got lucky and landed one winter spring ways out from mouth, a super clean hatchery red keeper, similar to one Raincity caught, he is right; amazingly clean , strong and healthy fish this time of year. And had one Chum hit we missed on a chartreuse glow hoochie, while eating lunch all day. was pretty dead. What a gorgeous setting to fish in though!, Was surreal , dead calm in a panoramic fjord, with Shannon falls huge and beautiful looming above and beside us. Great day even with only one fish in the cooler. Buddy may send me some pics will post same if anyone interested,.

You find it better in the harbour or to go towards Hole in the Wall Porteau Cove this time of year? Launch at Porteau is better than boating back to Macdonald Beach at night.

Check the Howe Sound winds. It can be completely opposite to what's happening at South Bowen.
