I guess the people from the Senate that called him to testify haven’t checked the Wikipedia link you posted…lolPeople should check out at least a little bit of background on someone that makes claims like this

Texas Senate is not known for it's wisdom.I guess the people from the Senate that called him to testify haven’t checked the Wikipedia link you posted…lol
Yes let's blindly and ignorantly listen to the great and powerful government. They have never lead us down the wrong path before. Nowhere in any of the policy and mandate making have they revealed the real secret data from which they are making these decisions. Cost benefit analysis? No! Not needed! If we can extend one life! It's worth all the money. We can extend 100 people's lives? -sure, let's throw a billion dollars at it! The truth is this has become the great pandemic that never really materialized. There are virtually no excess deaths in Canada compared to other bad flu years. Show me the death data compared to other years. Borders closed, business closed, lock downs, school closures and the list goes on and on. None of these measures were ever discussed in respiratory pandemic planning by the very experts everyone is applauding. Dr Tam wrote a book on the subject not long ago. Read it, doubt she mentioned many of the policies enacted because science says they don't work. Bonnie Henry has flip flopped so many times it's laughable. You can try and defend this by saying Covid is novel! They have never seen it before! It's a respiratory virus from the Corona family for the love of sweet baby Jesus. It's been seen a large number of times and will be seen again. It isn't particularly unique or special. People die, that's what happens. 80 year olds especially. The world has gone soft as baby ****. Signed a 39 year old entitled millenial. I'll let you guys get back to munching Bonnie's clitty litter.
Sigh. I know you're frustrated and tired of the pandemic like the rest of us, but you're wilfully ignoring reality. The ten year average for influenza in Canada is 3500 deaths and 12,200 hospitalizations annually. The current pandemic straddles one flu season and has caused 27,000 deaths and over 60,000 hospital admissions. The truth is this has become the great pandemic that never really materialized. There are virtually no excess deaths in Canada compared to other bad flu years. Show me the death data compared to other years.
Estimate Canada deaths 2020 309912, deaths 2019 284082.The truth is this has become the great pandemic that never really materialized. I’d ask you how you’d feel if it was one of your parents in ICU struggling to breathe through a tube but it’s pretty obvious from your post that old people are expendable.Yes let's blindly and ignorantly listen to the great and powerful government. Yes I do think that we will eradicate it at some point in time if we chose to do so. What I'm not sure of is that once we get this beat in the developed world will we still have enough fight in us to tackle the rest of the world. I hope so and I'm encouraged by newer vaccines that travel easily and are easy to administer.GLG - honest question… do you really think this virus can be eradicated?
What happens when we do our best then open up to the rest of the world and a new variant is brought in? It doesn’t seem like this virus is going away… quite the opposite
Maybe we end up all following Israel’s lead and get in line for the fourth dose? Let’s see how that works but eradicating doesn’t seem like a likely outcome….

My thinking at this point in time is that it is unlikely that any variant will escape the current or future versions of the vaccines. I follow, on twitter, a senior researcher from Moderna that has explained that the spike proteins on the virus can't change too much or else it will not attach to the ace-2 receptor. The vaccines can be tweaked to work better but at this point it's not a deal breaker.
Can we keep up the fight here in Canada when we are so close to the finish line? That is out of my hands but there are some that acting against their best interests by being influenced by the tricks of the ant-vaxxers. I'll post more on this if wanted.
Here is a video from a trusted source that gives us a timeline on when we can expect vaccines for the younger crowd. It's good news for Canada.
Long Covid in kids is real so you need to look at that risk and just because you say that "vaccines neither prevent infection nor transmission" doesn't make that true. Yes we need to do more for developing countries and thankfully we can do both at the same time. Why put a vaccine into a young person who is at near zero risk from covid if the vaccines neither prevent infection nor transmission? Yes they significantly lower the risk serious disease in adults, but what is the point for kids? Seems like a pointless exercise when those doses could do much more good in developing countries.
Now if the vaccines were a path toward herd immunity, because they prevent infection and transmission, that would be different.

In the end I'll go with what NACI recommends.

I struggle with this as well. My oldest is 12 next year, going on 19. I think I’m just going to let her decide what she wants to do.Why put a vaccine into a young person who is at near zero risk from covid if the vaccines neither prevent infection nor transmission? "vaccine doesn't prevent infection and transmission" Do you have a source for that because maybe this is out of context. You know what else is real, adverse events from the vaccine in kids, including a very significant risk of myocarditis.
Also, I'm not the one saying the vaccine doesn't prevent infection and transmission, the CDC, who, and numerous medical journals are saying it. I'm the farthest thing from anti vacc or conspiracy theorist, but giving the CURRENT vaccine to young kids definitely doesn't pass the smell test (from someone with 3 kids under 12).
