What Did You Do To Your Boat This Week?

Decided to flush mount my HDS into the electronics box opening on the dash so that I didn’t have to flip up the clear plexiglass door to access it basically cleaning up the dash. I had to carve part of the opening so no going back.

Somewhat boat related: Replaced the transmission in an old work truck I'm taking to Thormanby to become dock to cabin transport and for launching/retrieving the 14 ft starcraft we keep there. Also pre-emptively replaced the fuel pump so I don't have to do it when I'm on vacation. Will also replace water pump and battery, rad flush etc so it goes on the barge in as good a shape as I can make it. No BCAA on the little islands and the barge ain't cheap.

does mercer pull it over for you? whos running the barge?

Yes we generally use the Mercers for this, a truck can go on their landing craft ok. Whoever is on the water taxi duty that day will operate it.

This week I connected a gas fume detector. Ì'm re-doing the old fuel line and I also squeezed way back and down low to grease the coupler.

Installed the kit to attach remote controls to my 8hp Yamaha.

next up......route the cables.

At full throttle haha...I like those guys, lots of people say they're grumps but no problems for me. Plus livies!!!

Today I managed to hobble my way down the docks to the shed after 3 weeks on the sidelines, take that Santa Cruz Bronson, you got nothing on me...anyway I've been meaning to rewire my downrigger plugs...for the past 5 years. So off to Martin Marine and of course, no simple red / black 12 gauge so its yellow for ground and green for juice. Easy enough on one side but the other plug would not vacate the gunnel, what a pita. The biggest win was using the cool new marine butyl tape to seal the screws and the fitting, mostly to see how that junk works.

Awesome, my next job will be to go around to every fitting I can find, counter sink, epoxy seal the core as needed and reinstall with that cool marine butyl tape. This junk works great, just use it all around the fixture and make your own gasket, same around the threads. With a counter sunk hole, you can just crank down the hardware as it stays put (I experimented at home haha) instead of having to wait for sikkaflex to set up before hand. Don't get me wrong, I will still enjoy getting Sikkaflex all over everything except what I'm trying to seal but I am fully converted to this butyl tape. I figure I should be done rebedding everything by Christmas.

It's nothing real special. I bought it 4 years ago. 98 Campion 542. I replaced all the white starboard with black, swapped out the front seat. In the process of doing the rest. These pics are when I first bought it. Hoping to replace the canvass soon.View attachment 61434View attachment 61435
