My buddy Harry and I just came back from a 5 night trip.
We have manual downriggers and some fiberglass fly rods, #9 at 9' long.
We trolled all the time, but I am looking for spots to jig.
Some good results on small spoons; green/white small Gypsy, army truck glo 3.5 Coyote, usually 57 to 77 feet with 5 lb ball, going 3 to 4 mph.
some good results on a 4.5 Apex in the old black pearl colour, some Rainbows but mostly a Laker killer lure.
some good results on flies fished sub surface (1 or 2 feet) brown black top with gold tinsel and yellow underside.
We stayed close to shore half the time and got small Lakers, 6.5 lbs being the biggest, Rainbows were to 4 lbs. got more Rainbows than Lakers if we trolled faster, as some Lakers hit at 3 to 3.5 mph!
the surface water temp kept going up every day. started at 62 and ended the week at 69!
